You need a minimum of 65 points to receive an invitation to apply for a skilled visa. However, competitive occupations typically require 80-90+ points to receive an invitation due to high demand.
Age (up to 30 points for those aged 25-32), Australian work experience (up to 20 points for 8+ years), English proficiency at Superior level (20 points), and education (up to 20 points for a PhD) offer the highest scores.
Subclass 189 is a permanent visa with no state nomination required. Subclass 190 is permanent but requires a state or territory nomination (adds 5 points). Subclass 491 is a provisional regional visa requiring nomination (adds 15 points).
